GriefShare program offered in Leechburg

The first Evangelical Lutheran Church, Leechburg, will host a 13-week GriefShare support group from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 14 to September 6 at the church, 358 Main Street.

The group is for anyone who has lost an important person in their life and who may need help coping with the grief and hardship that loss may have caused. The sessions will take place in the sanctuary of the church. Masks will be required to enter the building and social distancing will be observed.

Volunteers are needed to place flags on veterans’ graves

Help is needed to place flags at veterans’ graves Wednesday at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Road, Gilpin.

To give of your time, meet at 9:30 am at the cemetery chapel.


Plum Rotary collects donations for animal shelters

Donations are accepted until June 15 by Plum Rotary for local animal shelters

Items needed for dogs and cats include new or used leashes and collars, food and toys; heartworm, flea and tick medications, and liquid, chewable and gel multivitamins.

Donations can be dropped off at the Plum Municipal Building, S&T Bank in Murrysville, and Shop ‘n Save Markets in Penn Hills and Holiday Park.


Pantry available in Harrison

The Natrona Community Pantry is located in Natrona Community Park, 12-20 River Road, Harrison.

Anyone in need is welcome. Donations are welcome. Suggested items include canned fruits and vegetables, spices, salt and pepper, tuna, cake mix, powdered milk, and tea bags.


Food distribution at the wheel at Lernerville Speedway

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-through food distribution for anyone in need from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway, 313 N. Pike Road, Buffalo Township. No car is allowed to arrive before 11 a.m.

Reservations are necessary to ensure that enough food is available and they fill up quickly. To make a reservation, visit pittsburghfoodbank.org/drive-up/butler/ or call 412-460-3663, ext. 655. Bring your confirmation page or email for your reservation to the event. There is no proof of eligibility required and everyone is eligible for the food.
