Story Submitted: IL Non-Profit launches campaign to celebrate and support educators during COVID (07/03/22)

CHICAGO — Back 2 School Illinois (B2SI), a nonprofit organization that provides tens of thousands of deserving children from low-income families with free school supplies each year to help them succeed in the classroom, is pleased to announce the launch of its 2022 We Appreciate Teachers Campaign, starting today. The statewide initiative is designed to celebrate and support Illinois educators, especially during COVID-19, by selecting fifteen teachers (from all applicants) and giving them 30 Back 2 kits School Illinois (full of vital school supplies) for their entire class of students. Teachers will also receive gift baskets and be treated to a luxurious evening of champagne and hors d’oeuvres at a reception in Chicago on May 2.

Anyone can submit a request on behalf of a teacher, including the teacher themselves. The teacher must be currently employed by an Illinois school.

To participate, interested parties should complete the We Appreciate Teachers Campaign online application, or print and complete the application form on the B2SI website, then mail it to B2SI. All nominations must be completed by April 1, 2022 and include an essay (250-500 words) detailing how the nominated teacher goes above and beyond to positively impact the lives of their students. The winning teachers will be notified by April 11.
