Christmas Celebration Quickly Approaching
"Come Home for the Holidays" in Dresden
Experience Christmas the old-fashioned way when you ‘Come Home for the Holidays’ to the quaint village of Dresden, Ohio. On December 1st, the air will be filled with holiday spirit, Christmas carols, and joyful shopping specials at over 30 merchants. You’ll be sure to find those unique gift items, while taking advantage of great Christmas sales.
The day will begin with a Pancake Breakfast at the Dresden Fire Department. Pancakes, Sausage, Orange Juice and Coffee will be served from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Please register in advance by calling the DVA at 740-754-3401. Children can make a special Christmas ornament at 10:30 a.m.
Other activities throughout the day will include the crowning of the Prince and Princess of the Christmas parade at 1:00 pm, Christmas carols and holiday songs 2:00 – 5:30 p.m. at the 6th street stage, refreshments at area shops, and much more!
The day will wrap up with the National Anthem being sung just before the lighted Christmas Parade begins at 5:30 p.m. You’ll be mystified with the beautiful floats, vintage cars, fire trucks, area bands and choirs, as well as a visit from Santa himself. So make a day of it and Come Home for the Holidays on December 1, 2007.

When bringing your friends, family and customers to Dresden, be sure to call the Dresden Welcome Center. If you have 15 or more coming, you qualify to receive our Welcome to Dresden bag of flyers, coupons, and gift certificates for your group. Duplicate the flyers and coupons (unless marked otherwise) for everyone on your trip. Don't forget to order Dresden Visitors Guides for everyone as well. They are an invaluable resource when making your 'plan of attack'. You can also incorporate the guide into a game to pass the time traveling. Challenge your guests to a word find type of game. Ask them to find a specific businesses, products in an ad, pictures - the possibilities are endless.
Here are some tips to make your trip a success:
- Make copies of the coupons for everyone in your group. People like to be informed and everyone loves a special offer (Friends of Dresden members get a 10% at participating stores)
- Give your guests an agenda so they know where to be and when. It will make your trip run more smoothly
- Tell your guests in advance to pack light. You'll need plenty of room for all their shopping bags
- Run out of room on the bus? Packages can be shipped from Social Supper in Dresden and also at the Homestead.
- Sit back, relax and enjoy your trip. Always remember, only you know if something was left out or went wrong. To your guests, just coming to Dresden is a wonderful time!

New Bed and Breakfast Coming to the Dresden Area
Aaron and Heather Greenwood are opening the Abberley House Irish Bed & Breakfast just north of Dresden off of State Route 60. They will be opening December 7, 2007 and will have three double occupancy rooms available. They also offer a large Gathering Room and Dining Room, as well as a cozy Reading Nook.
